ENGLAND 3 WALES 0 1973 Home International Championship Wembley Stadium 15th May 1973

Matchday Programme

How England wish they could have changed this performance for the one they produced in the World Cup qualifier. In front of a paltry 38,000 at Wembley England breezed to victory.
I have been unable to find any footage of the match, although it was shown on Sportsnight with David Coleman providing the commentary for BBC.
With Allan Clarke suspended for Leeds United’s European Cup Winners Cup Final the following evening, the striker came into the side and produced a man of the match performance for England.
Although he didn’t score he was a constant threat to the Welsh defence. Martin Chivers, Mick Channon and a 25 yarder from Martin Peters saw England clinch their first win at Wembley for two years.
